Sanjiv Puri

Sanjiv Puri is the Chairman and Managing Director of ITC Limited. He was appointed the CEO of ITC effective February 2017. He was then designated as ITC's Managing Director with effect from May 2018 and the Chairman and Managing Director effective May 2019. Puri was designated as the President of FMCG Businesses in 2014 and an Executive Director in 2015.
Biography
Sanjiv Puri was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He acquired his further qualification from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. He was promoted as Chief operating officer (COO) of ITC in 2016. In 2017, he was appointed as an independent Chief executive officer of ITC, after YC Deveshwar.
In July 2019, Puri announced that ITC would venture into fresh sub-segments and categories in the vertical of FMCG and support the move with multi-dimensional investments and acquisitions. He also refuted the possibility of a business demerger at ITC and said that "the company would use business-wise digital technology as a part of its overall strategy.". Puri also endorsed the employee stock option scheme (ESOPS) being used by ITC.
Puri was designated as a Director on the Board of the TII and at Media Research Users Council. Along with that he also served as a former member of the Board of Governors. He was a Council Member of the CII Eastern Region and the Chairman of FICCI’s FMCG Committee. Puri was also appointed on the Executive Council of the Indian Society of Advertisers.<ref name"webaug"/><ref name"ewsst"/>
At present, Puri is appointed on the National Executive Committees of CII and FICCI. He is also a Member of the Steering Committee of FICCI and serves as a Director on the Board of US-India Strategic Partnership Forum.<ref name"webaug"/><ref name"ewsst"/>
