Sanilian Classification System

The Sanilian Classification System is a system for classifying games, created by a student in Fremont, CA. The system is simple, and consists of two primary levels of classification. Please note, however, that the system is still in development, and this page will be updated as new updates appear.
Categories
There are three main categories of classification.
Single-Track
Single-track games are games that have a fixed plot, meaning that the player cannot influence the outcome of the game. These games often do not use very much player input, as the plot is unchangeable. All players play the exact same game and have the exact same end and gameplay.
Dual-Track
Dual-track games are games that allow the user to make a decision that impacts the game's ending. This decision often also impacts the gameplay. Examples of dual-track games include Infinity Blade and many Pokemon video games. Infinity Blade allows the user to make a decision at the end, whether to join the evil side or finish the fight and beat the evil side. In Pokemon, however, one makes a decision at the start of the game, of which Pokemon to begin with. This impacts the gameplay, though doesn't greatly impact the ending.
Multi-Track
Multi-track games are games that allow the user to make many decisions that all impact the gameplay and/or the outcome of the game. These types of games are often much harder to make, as many multi-track games provide a difference experience for each and every player, based on the decisions they make throughout the game.
Sub-Categories
Three main sub-categories exist at this time: closed-world, open-world, and limited-roam. The sub-categories open-world and limited-roam are only applicable to games in which there is a visual character that can be moved.
Closed-World
Closed world games are games in which the player is not allowed to roam freely, and must follow tasks or missions to advance the story of the game in a specific order. These kinds of games are often single-tracked. If there is a character that can be moved, the player is not permitted to move this character and it is moved automatically.
Open-World
Open-world games are very common. See this page for more information on these kinds of games.
Limited-Roam
Limited-roam games are very similar to open-world games, except for they are not as large as the world in open world games. In limited-roam games, you cannot roam beyond a small area. Often, you must follow one fixed path as in closed-world games; however, the player controls the character as opposed to closed-world games.
