In another incident in June 2010 in Osaka, a Japanese woman by the name of Sanae Shimomura sealed the door apartment shut, abandoning two children, a 3-year-old daugther and a 1-year-old boy inside. The two children died after several days with no food or water. Their badly decomposed bodies were found around August 1st, 2010. Since the woman did not come to work during several days, a colleague went to her place and noticed an strange smell beyond the door. When the police entered the apartment, they found the two children dead. Social workers had attempted to stop by the apartment several times over the course of the childrens confinement, but never found anyone home.
