Sami H. Elmansoury is an American political activist, orator, and community leader. Born in Livingston, in western Essex County, New Jersey, Elmansoury developed a resounding interest in the plight of American politics and diversity while serving as a Congressional Student Advisor, as well as Chief of Staff for a civil rights and criminal attorney in New Brunswick, New Jersey, for three years. Elmansoury served as Co-Founder and Vice President of Belief, Awareness, Knowledge, and Activism (BAKA), an organization dedicated to justice and moderation in Middle-Eastern politics and affairs, from 2005-2006, and as Co-Founder and President of The Human Development Project (HDP), an apolitical organization dedicated to the shared values of common good and service within both the Arab and Jewish communities, from 2003-2005. In 2005, he was the first recipient of the People of the Book Award, presented by Rutgers University for his persistent work in promoting diversity as well as greater understanding within various communities throughout the United States. Based largely upon his deeply-rooted belief in the value of American diversity, Elmansoury has indulged himself in the study of politics, intra-American relations, and inter-communal understanding on both a domestic and an international level. He is a devoted student of foreign language, and is currently fluent in both Arabic and French. In addition to his political work and community service with various organizations across the United States, Elmansoury currently serves as an ESL and foreign language Instructor with Berlitz International in Princeton, New Jersey, as well as on the Immigrant Rights Task Force for the Office of the Borough President of Manhattan in New York City. He was also the youngest serving member on the Board of Directors of the Muslim Bar Association of New York (MuBANY) from 2008-2009. As an outspoken activist for moderation in American political affairs, as well as inter-religious respect and understanding, Elmansoury is an avid writer and public orator. He has spoken at several conferences throughout the United States, and he has been interviewed for and featured positively in various media outlets, including independent films, MTV, Britain’s TV4, Dandana TV, the New Jersey Jewish News, and the New York Times. Elmansoury graduated from Rutgers University’s Rutgers College in 2006, with a B.A. in Political Science and French Language.
