Sam Phripp

Sam Phripp is a singer songwriter living in Somerset, UK. Born on March 22nd 1992, his life goal is to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest for the United Kingdom. As of June, 2008 Sam has been part of the Channel 4 show, Yeardot.

Personal life

Born in Bath, Avon Sam is currently a student at Frome Community College. He studies Psychology, Music, English and Government and Politics.

Eurovision Entry

In June 2008, Sam started his bid to represent the United Kingdom at The Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow. Taking a new approach he used Myspace to help form his entry, to be submitted to the BBC in October, 2008. He asked visitors to his page to vote on the genre of song he would submit, hoping this would make the process more democratic.

Gay Issues

As an openly gay young man, Sam is using his exposure as part of Yeardot to raise awareness for gay issues within the British school system. Working in league with the Queer Youth Network he hopes to make life easier for young gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people throughout the United Kingdom.
