Russo-Georgian War in Abkhazia

Russo-Georgian War in Abkhazia () — Russia's heavy involvement in conflict in Abkhazia in 1991-93 played main role in its internalisation. Though Georgian government avoided to name war in Abkhazia as Russo-Georgian war, later in 2000s Georgia's leaders and government officials started calling it as Russo-Georgina war. This was due to the aggressive policy of Russia towards occupation of Georgia's breakaway territory.
Human Rights Watch, Georgian Government, UN documented that Russia was carrying military attacks against Georgian forces during the war 1991-1993.
International media reported about aerial attacks on Georgian controlled Sukhumi by Russians.
Many of Georgian scholars, including Damir Jojua, claim that the conflict in Abkhazia was the war between Russia and Georgia.
