Ronnie Holloway

Ronnie Holloway is an Afro-American living in Passaic, New Jersey, United States of America, who came into the attention of world wide media after he was shown on surveillance cameras (from Lawrence's Grill and Bar) getting beaten up with fists and a baton by officer Joseph R. Rios III on May 29th 2009. At the time Mr. Holloway, who is identified as being schizophrenic amongst other potental mental disabilities, was 49 year old. He was arrested for resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and wandering for the purpose of obtaining controlled dangerous substances. He had been asked to close his jacket under which he allegedly wore no shirt and after following the request was beaten up although he apparently did not resist. At the time of his arrest he was placed in a holding cell overnight without treatment for the injuries that the officer caused him. These injuries included a torn cornea and extensive bruising to the left side of his body as identified by Holloway's attorney, Nancy Luciann. Demonstrators in front of the city hall asked for the suspension of Mr. Rios.
