Rockland County recount

The Rockland County recount is an ongoing legal case in Rockland County, New York.
In the 2024 elections, hundreds of voters chose the Democratic candidate Kirsten Gillibrand for Senate, but none voted for Kamala Harris for President. A New York elections data expert told Snopes that this split-ticket voting was likely the product of Orthodox Jewish bloc voting, leading communities to vote as a bloc as directed by local rabbinical leadership.
There is currently a lawsuit brought by SMART Legislation, the action arm of the nonprofit SMART Elections, seeking a full hand recount of the 2024 Presidential and U.S. Senate elections in Rockland County. Judge Rachel Tanguay of the New York Supreme Court has ruled that discovery must proceed, and the next court date is September 22, 2025.
