Roberto Estuardo "Rob" Penedo is an international political consultant and entrepreneur. Education In 1984 Penedo graduated from high school in Guatemala. Between 1992-1995, he studied for a Master of Business Administration degree at Orlando College, where he was also awarded an honoris causa doctorate in 1996. In 2016, he was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree by National Business School for supporting growth in higher education and assistance to Guatemalans in their professional development. Political career Penedo is a native of Guatemala and moved to the US in May 1985, where he later became a U.S. citizen. He began his career as a political consultant in 1996 and since then has advised government leaders, including presidents, of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. He has also advised governors of the United States of America, members of the U.S. Congress (senators and representatives) and local authorities in the US, including mayors, city council members and members of the House of Delegates. Penedo is a member of the Republican party. While president of the Guatemalan-American Foundation and the Guatemalan-American Association in Atlanta, he was an advisor for the presidential election campaign of Senator John McCain. In this role, he advised the leaders of the campaigns on strategies how to win the vote among Hispanics. Penedo also made monetary contributions to the campaign. In October 2008, during the administration of President Alvaro Colom, Penedo was elected by the Guatemalan Congress to the post of Deputy Secretary of the National Migrant Care of Guatemala organisation (CONAMIGUA). He was the first holder of the post and was elected because of his experience on immigration issues. In his time as Deputy Secretary, he advised the Council of CONAMIGUA on immigration reform human trafficking, illegal immigration in the United States and programs for re-assimilation of deported Guatemalans. Business career In addition to his political career, Penedo has for more than ten years advised companies and governments on projects related to oil, natural gas, energy integration and infrastructure. He works with companies and governments in the US, Ukraine, China and the region of Mesoamerica (including Mexico and Central America). In the summer of 2015 Penedo was accused of theft. In December 2016 all the charges were dropped and the case against him was dismissed. As a result, Penedo has been advising in relation to what he believes is the broken judicial system in the US, which affected, in his opinion, too many innocent people who have become victims of abuse of power.
