Robert Onley

Robert David Onley (born May 15, 1987) is a freelance writer primarily focused on the lead up to the 2008-2009 Gaza War and the on-going Iranian nuclear crisis. His work has been published by the Israeli Ynetnews (Yedioth Ahronoth) and the Israel National News.
He is the second of three sons to David Onley, the current Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Canada.
Controversy
Onley's December 14, 2008 article, "Time to hesitate was yesterday" published by the Ynetnews was criticized by the conspiracy website Rense.com for an alleged misquote of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The article was also criticized for calling on Israel to carry out tactical military strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities. This military action is still considered a last-resort by most nations around the world, who generally view diplomacy as the best solution to the crisis. Unilateral Israeli military action against Iran would be very similar to Israel's successful surprise air strike against the Iraqi Osirak nuclear reactor in June 1981, dubbed Operation Opera.
Since Onley's December 14, 2008 article called for these military strike a month prior to inauguration (while President George W. Bush was still in office) the article was considered provocative by Rense.com.
