Robert C. Botti (born March 19, 1940), is a former mayor of Union City, New Jersey, who served in the year 1982. Political career Botti, a former member of the Union City commission, Botti, who styled himself as a reformer, Botti had been in office only seven weeks when he himself was indicted for corruption,<ref name=Convicted/> and sentenced to 18 months in prison on charges of conspiracy, mail fraud and income tax evasion, as part of a scheme to rig bids for janitorial contracts.<ref nameNJCorrupt/><ref nameConvicted/> Botti has been cited as a keen example of New Jersey's corrupt political culture.<ref name=NJCorrupt/> |
