Robert Ambrose (conductor)

Robert J. Ambrose is an American conductor.
Biography
Robert Ambrose was born and raised in Wethersfield, Connecticut. He attended Wethersfield High School and participated in that school’s robust guitar program. Ambrose received the Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science from Boston College, the Master of Music in music education degree from Boston University and the Doctor of Music degree in conducting from the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music.
Career
Professional Positions
Ambrose currently serves as Director of Bands, Professor of Music, and Director of Recruitment at the Georgia State University In addition Ambrose is Co-founder and Music Director of the Washington D.C.-based National Chamber Winds, and the Atlanta Chamber Winds. Ambrose is a Conn-Selmer Educational Clinician.
Guest Conducting
Ambrose is in constant demand as a guest conductor of bands and orchestras and has conducted on four continents. Recent engagements include performances in Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan as well as across the United States. Recently Dr. Ambrose served as a guest conductor on tour with The United States Army Field Band. He is the only civilian in history to be invited to conduct a premiere United States military band on tour.
