Ritam Banerjee (born January 1976 in Jamshedpur, India) is a photographer and cinematographer, specialising in advertising, automobiles, fashion photography, food photography, architecture photography, interiors, portrait photography, corporate, travel photography and photojournalism. Ritam Banerjee is also known for his theme-based calendars, exhibitions and workshops across the globe. Apart from stills, Ritam has been awarded for cinematography at several international film festivals like Madrid International Film Festival, Columbia Gorge Film Festival and Tenerife International Film Festival in London. Early life As a child, he watched his father Robin Banerjee, an avid photographer, at work, and grew to love the camera. Introduction to Art and literature at an early age shaped up his distinct creative style. In 1996, Ritam joined Fergusson College, Pune, to study physics and photography and embarked on the stellar career in photography. Career Armed with a basic SLR camera, a 50 mm lens and two rolls of films, Ritam started experimenting with photography while he was still in college. Images from his first two film rolls were published in the leading Indian newspaper Times of India's Pune edition, giving him a head start. His work was noticed very early (1997) in his career when he was recognised by the Government of India. In 1999, after finishing college, Ritam came to Mumbai and began his 17-year-old love affair with the city. The perfect expression of this love can be seen in his masterpiece ‘Mumbai: The city that talks to me’, his first solo exhibition. His work has been part of several permanent displays and exhibitions around the world. Notable among them are 'Mumbai: The City that Talks to Me’ (November 2009, Mumbai), ‘Israel through Indian Eyes’ (October 2010, Mumbai), The Japanese Girl - A Pictorial Ode to the Land of the Rising Sun (Apr 2011), TRIPtych- A Visual Tribute to Travel (2015), 'Expressions of Freedom' - A tribute to Nelson Mandela at World Economic Forum in Davos (Jan 2014), MasterCard Worldwide Collection and Mumbai Airport. Ritam Banerjee was the official photographer for BCCI Indian Premier League 2010, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and T-20 Cricket World Cup 2016. He captured the historic moment of Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh holding the World Cup against the iconic backdrop of The Gateway of India. Ritam Banerjee has photographed several celebrities and is also known for his theme-based calendars and his views on photography in India.
