Richard Knapik

Richard Knapik is the former mayor of Bay City, Texas. He was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Prior to becoming the mayor of Bay City, Texas he served as the director of the Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture. He has also served as President of the Gulf Coast Chamber Executives and is immediate past chairman of the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives.
Richard Knapik earned a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Colorado at Denver. He attended St. Vincent de Paul Seminary in Lemont, Illinois and is a 1997 graduate of the US Chamber Institute of Organization Management.
Election Information
After winning his first election in 2010, Mr. Knapik lost the run-off causing Mark Bricker to become mayor of Bay City, Texas.
Personal life
He has been married to one wife, Nancy, for over twenty years. In addition to belonging to many civic clubs and organizations, he is a veteran, having served one tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honored with two Bronze Stars as a Combat Infantryman. Mr. Knapik moved to Bay City, Texas in 1979 and managed Bay City Plumbing Supply from 1980 until 1991.
