Richard Kahlbaugh

Richard (Rick) Kahlbaugh is an American business executive who became the president, chairman, and CEO of The Fortegra Group in 2007.
Professional Career
In his early career, Kahlbaugh served as the first General Counsel of Walshire Assurance Group, a publicly traded insurance company, and practiced law in Pennsylvania as a part of McNees, Wallace and Nurick. In 2003, he joined Fortegra as the COO while the company was still known as Life of the South. He became CEO in 2007. , a buyout, numerous acquisitions, and subsidiaries, , strategic investments, , and international expansion.
After becoming CEO in 2007, Kahlbaugh immediately displayed his commitment to growth by initiating Fortegra’s name change in 2008, claiming that dropping regional references would allow access to a larger market and better prepare the company for an IPO. The name change to Fortegra, a combination of the words fortitude and integrity, also coincided with a product expansion into areas outside of credit life products.
Personal
Kahlbaugh earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Delaware, where he was a member of the golf team. He also earned a J.D. from the University of Delaware Law School.
