Rich Hume

Rich Hume is an American business executive and has served as the CEO and board member of Tech Data Corporation since 2018. Hume previously served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Tech Data, he was at IBM for more than 30 years, holding multiple executive positions.
Career
IBM
Rich began his career with IBM, where he served in a variety of roles for more than 30 years. He led IBM’s System X Servers, Global Inside Sales and North American PC businesses, and served as COO for the Global Consulting business. Later, he served as General Manager, Europe, leading IBM’s multi-brand European organization. Rich also served as General Manager, Global Business Partners for more than three years, directing IBM’s Business Partner Channel. In his final position at IBM, Rich served as General Manager and COO, Global Technology Services.
Tech Data
In March 2016, Rich joined Tech Data (Number 83 on 2021 Fortune 500 List) as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer (COO) where he led the company’s regional operations in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific, including Tech Data’s acquisition of Avnet’s Technology Solutions business. In 2020, Rich led the company through its acquisition by an affiliate of certain funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management, Inc. (NYSE: APO), and on March 22, 2021, the company announced plans to merge with SYNNEX Corporation (Number 117 on 2021 Fortun 500 List).
TD SYNNEX
In September of 2021 Rich became the CEO of the newly merged TD SYNNEX.
