Rhoads Lucca Capital

Rhoads Lucca Capital is an independent registered investment advisor based in Dallas, Texas, founded by John Rhoads in 1980. Since the early 1990s Rhoads Lucca has been a noted proponent of active investment management and the fee-only financial advising business model.
History
Rhoads Lucca Capital was founded by John Rhoads, a Dallas-based insurance agent and financial planner, as Dallas/Rhoads/Associates. The firm was a branch office for Walnut Street Securities, with Rhoads serving as branch manager until the firm became a fee-only money management firm. Unlike most financial advisors, the firm has a nationwide clientele.
David Lucca joined the company in 1988 as a vice president. Shortly after joining the company Lucca became instrumental in transitioning the firm from commission-based to a fee-only structure. This also included transitioning the firm from financial planning to a new focus on investment management. Each of the firm's investment models is built using a complete strategy that includes both an offensive and defensive component.
In 1996 Lucca and Ricky Grunden were promoted to full Partner and the company was renamed Rhoads Grunden Lucca Capital Management. Grunden left the company some time later and was dropped from the company name. Another Partner, Peter Mauthe, served with the company for several years before leaving in 2010.
The firm has offices in Dallas and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Services
In addition to fee-only investment management and retirement services, Rhoads Lucca Capital offers the 401k Autopilot program specifically geared towards commercial airline pilots. As of February 2011 401k Autopilot services are offered to pilots with Delta Air Lines, US Airways and FedEx Express.
