Red Pen Letter

Red Pen Letter were a post modern rock band originally from Middlesbrough, United Kingdom, based in North Manchester. They were united through a shared love of mid-seventies progressive rock bands such as Pink Floyd, Yes and King Crimson, whilst drawing inspiration from such contemporary artists as At the Drive-In. The band were known for their devastating incendiary live performances and onstage theatrics. This led to their sound being dubbed "Aggressive Progressive". Red Pen Letter often linked numerous songs together to form one continuous piece of music, played at ear-shattering volumes.

The band are also believed to be the inventors of a lesser known, adrenaline fuelled extreme sport - "Extreme Wallpapering", though this has not been officially confirmed.

The breakup
After a series of disagreements regarding the band's musical direction, Red Pen Letter spectacularly imploded in August 2006. Kevin and Ryan, the band's main songwriters, have both gone on to become solo artists whilst Simon dedicates most of his spare time to a Star Wars re-enactment group. After a series of unsuccessful avant-garde musical projects (composed mostly on synthesizer), Paul no longer works in music, describing his time in Red Pen Letter as "A total waste of time and effort" Paul also claimed the bands recordings were "For the most part, drivel." Ryan is also currently working on his autobiography, provisionally titled - "I wish I was dead: My time in Red Pen Letter by Ryan Joseph Magee" or "What the drummer saw..."
