Red Deer Stags Baseball Club

The Red Deer Stags Baseball is a baseball club was founded by Greg Tisdale in Red Deer, Alberta in 1994. The Stags originally started out as a junior ball club playing teams of college players throughout Alberta and Western Canada. Tisdale created the team as an alternative and rival to the no longer existent Red Deer Junior Riggers. The Stags would recruit college and university players as well as local players under 21. In 2001 Danny Zinger and Davin Gulbransen, former Riggers, took over the coaching duties and transformed the Stags into a Senior baseball team now competing in the Sunburst Baseball League. The Stags are an amateur ball club made up of players from around Alberta the majority have played college or university baseball, player pro baseball or played overseas. In 2010 after 9 years of managing and coaching, Zinger and Gulbransen handed the coaching duties over to a group of 3 veterans. Nate Benke, Shaun Connor and Kevin Curran now manage the team.
Throughout their tenure the Stags have been to 2 Canadian National Championships, 2 Western Canadian Championships and over 16 Provincial Championships.
The Stags play at one of the most beautiful parks in Alberta, Great Chief Park.
