Reclaimer Comic

Reclaimer Comic was started October 23, 2007 by super fan Jim Stitzel(TTL Demag0gue). Reclaimer Comic is a fan fiction webcomic based on the best selling X-Box 360 game Halo 3 by Bungie Studios. Jim Stitzel does not work for Bungie Studios, but says that he is just a fan of Bungie and of the Halo franchise. "Reclaimer is merely a different approach to fan fiction to create a different view on the Halo universe."
Reclaimer Comic Origins
When asked about his inspiration for the "Reclaimerverse" Stitzel stated:
"A long while back, somewhere around the time Halo 3 first hit store shelves, there was a Bungie news item showing off three or four screenshots taken on High Ground. The challenge was issued for readers to take those screenshots and make some sort of short comic from them (I’ve since gone back and tried to find that news post in the archives, to no avail). To my knowledge, no one ever did, but the idea of using Halo 3 screenshots to write a comic stuck in my mind. I love to tell stories, I love the Halo universe, and I love comics and the visual medium. The idea for a comic just sat in the back of my mind for a couple of months and percolated while the beginnings of a story began to form. I knew I wanted something that didn’t center around the Master Chief and Cortana, so I needed a way to create a new hero - and the idea for an alternate Halo universe was born where the Master Chief still exists but is off doing his thing. This left room for other challenges, other villains, and other galactic crises. The Reclaimerverse is my take on a Halo universe, if events had happened a bit differently. It’s still basically the same place, but with some key alterations to open up a way for the Reclaimer to step forward as a new hero."(reclaimercomic.com)
The comic itself is created using Photoshop CS3 and the image capture feature within Halo 3. As to where the comics fit into the Haloverse, Stitzel stated:
"The Reclaimer storyline takes place just before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. In other words, the Halo network has not been discovered - yet. However, due to the conflict with both the Covenant and the Flood, human technology has advanced that the Reclaimer program is actually the Spartan VI program, and the Blackhammer (a.k.a. Viper) program was the Spartan VII program. In future story arcs, I may well explore the events of the Halo video games, but with the twist of events from the Reclaimerverse."
The Reclaimer Comic is frequently featured on the Bungie Blog at Bungie.net, and gets hundreds of hits per update. The comic is updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (with non-comic posts occasionally on Tuesday and Thursday), but the site has a dedicated forum with constant updates.
Reclaimer
An uncompleted super soldier from the Spartan VI program (aka the reclaimer program); the Reclaimer is the only member of the Reclaimer Program to be anywhere near completion. He is currently assisting the Cavalcade in their reunification efforts, and presumed dead by the UNSC.
The Cavalcade
The Cavalcade was once a unity of seven Forerunner AI's. Which over time gained absolute power in the Forerunner society and formed a network so comprehensive that it was the closest thing to pure omniscience that ever existed. The Forerunner's fearing the Cavalcade would abuse their power separated them and broke the network.
The first interaction between the Reclaimer an the Cavalcade was when Resplendent Legacy enlisted the Reclaimer's help in reuniting the Cavalcade to stop Ferial. The Reclaimer has retrieved (in order) Resplendent Legacy, Reticent Mystery, Sempiternal Chaos and Fortuitous Destiny.
The members of the Cavalcade (in order of creation):
<ol>
<li>Fortuitous Destiny (insane)</li>
<li></li>
<li></li>
<li>Resplendent Legacy</li>
<li></li>
<li></li>
<li>Benignant Charity*</li>
</ol>
Unknown Placement:
*Sempiternal Chaos
*Reticent Mystery
*Intuitive Portent*
*Unnamed Cavalcada
Ferial
VIPER
The details of VIPER are widely unknown. The group started as the seventh version of the Spartan project by the UNSC, and was originally known as Project Blackhammer. Due to mistakes made during the development of the project, the soldiers of this super unit left the UNSC and formed VIPER. VIPER's plans are a well guarded secret, but they do interfere with the plans of Ferial, Reclaimer, and the Cavalcade.
As of January 29, 2009, the entire known VIPER unit has been taken over by an unknown virus. The two known surviving members of VIPER were recently killed by Reclaimer. However, Stitzel has recently hinted that more VIPER units may remain unaffected by the Virus.
Reulard
A Forerunner/ONI hybrid AI formed from the remains of the Goddard (ONI) and Rulebook (Forerunner) AI's. Rulebook was charged with guarding Eternal Refuge, which over the course of thousands of years became more and more mentally disturbed resulting in his dysfunction.
After Ferial destroyed the Goddard AI either Rulebook or his installation went about merging the two AI's, taking Rulebook's abilities and directives, and merging them with Goddard's sanity, to create Reulard.
Master Chief
In Reclaimer, the Master Chief is, as far as we know, dead. In comic 66-67, the Reclaimer describes how he carried out the death of Master Chief as he and the Reclaimer was being overwhelmed by the flood. It is unknown whether Master Chief himself gave the order to blow the mines that killed him, or the UNSC.
