Rapstep

Rapstep is a Sub Genre of Electronic Music. It is associated with Bass Music culture, and is also referred to as "Thugstep". Characteristics Rapstep infuses the Beats, Lyrics, and other elements of Hip Hop with the Bass Lines and Sub-Bass of Dubstep. It was developed around 2007 when UK style dubstep became popular in the United States. Producers created dubstep remixes of Southern Rap anthems from artists like UGK, Outkast, and Young Jeezy. As the mainstream began to adopt electronic music and dubstep more in the last few years, dubstep is becoming infused in mainstream Hip Hop and Pop Music as well. Popularity Rapstep did not gain a huge following from the electronic music community, and only in the last year mainstream hip hop is experimenting with it. There are few resources detailing this style of music. Some Producers who are credited with the development of Rapstep are 6Blocc,DJ Trench, Symbl, and Trillbass. |
