RagaChitra Foundation

RagaChitra Foundation (established in 2004) is a non-profit cultural organization based in New York City. The foundation promotes and supports carnatic music and other performing arts of India, especially the South India.
Activities
RagaChitra Foundation hosts the annual event: Carnatic Music Festival in New York City, usually by the end of April every year. Many leading carnatic music artistes who present music concerts at the festival besides upcoming students of this art.
Unlike Thiagaraja Aradhana, another annual carnatic event, which takes place in Cleveland, OH, where the artists may present only the kirthanas (songs) composed by the legendary composer Tyagaraja (1847), the Carnatic Music Festival encourages artistes to present all different works including fusion music.
The festival attracts music lovers, music teachers and music professionals in large numbers and also features informational programs such as carnatic exhibitions and carnatic music quizzes. Artistes who have performed at the festival include Grammy Award Winner Ghatam Maestro Vikku Vinayakram, Ashok Ramani, Mala Chandrasekhar, Nivedita ShivRaj, Mahesh Vinayakram, Uma Shankar and Ramakrishnan.
