RadioActive Rock (also referred to as RA Rock) is a radio station based in South Africa. The station primarily broadcasts music in the rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock music genres. The station's studios and broadcast servers are based in Pretoria. RadioActive Rock is known for playlisting new and classic local rock music alongside music by international artists.
History
RadioActive Rock was launched on 7 January 2015 as an online rock radio station, with the objective to promote and expand the listenership of rock music in South Africa, as well as to promote local rock musicians to a South African, and international audience.
Playlist
RadioActive Rock has a very dynamic rock music library, and music playout schedule. Songs will playout more frequently on the radio station based on the song's current popularity in South Africa, as well as its current position on international rock airplay charts. This enables RadioActive Rock to bring the latest rock music, the highest charting rock music, as well as the best in current local rock music to its listeners, mixed with their favourite older rock songs, and classic rock songs.
Playout and transmission
RadioActive Rock broadcasts online using dedicated Icecast servers hosted by Hetzner in Midrand, South Africa. The RadioActive Rock online stream is available in an array of codecs and bitrates, making it easy for listeners to connect to the station, based on the speed and data cap of their data connections.

Licensing and Royalties
RadioActive Rock is a fully licensed radio station at Capasso. This means that record labels and musicians receive royalties every time their music is played on the station.
