Radio Elenore

Radio Elenore was a pirate radio station that broadcast in Merseyside during the early 1980s. It's theme tune was "Elenore" by The Turtles. It broadcast from the Moreton area of Wirral, firstly at weekends on 232 metres and then 254 metres. Some of the dj's included Andy Davis, Dave Simpson, Robin Blinde (who later became Robin Ross on Radio Caroline), Peanut Kenny, Mark Wright, Barry Cullen, Ian Dale and Paul Rogers (who later became Dave Collins on Radio Caroline) In the summer of 1981 it was decided to broadcast in the evenings from 6pm until midnight. This move proved to be successful and meant that Merseyside had pirate stations broadcasting seven days a week. Along with Radio Elenore, Radio Alpine also broadcast Monday to Friday from Noon until 6pm. Radio Elenore finally faded and disappeared around early 1984. |
