Rachel Shattuck is the Democratic candidate for State Representative of the 49th district of Illinois. She is currently the Democratic Precinct Committee Person of Precinct 32 of Dundee Township in Kane County. Shattuck is committed to working for health care for all residents of Illinois, fighting for education funding reform and helping to relieve the property tax burden on working class families.
As a lifelong Fox Valley resident, Rachel has been involved in progressive causes in our state and nation for years. She earned her B.A. in International Development with a minor in Public Communications from American University in Washington, DC, worked on local and national campaigns, led a group of Peace Corps advocates with the National Peace Corps Association, and facilitated a women's empowerment community development project in South Africa. These valuable experiences helped her gain a broad understanding of societal problems and practical solutions.
