R.C. Natarajan

Dr. R.C. Natarajan (Ramasamy Chidambara Natarjan) is the present Director at T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal. His tenure has seen the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation being bestowed upon TAPMI in 2012, making it one of the two B-schools in India to have received the accreditation (the other being ISB, Hyderabad).
Education
R.C. attended E.R. High School, Trichy during the session 1973-74. He completed his Bachelors in Economics from St. Joseph College, Trichy in 1978 and Masters in Economics from JNU, Delhi in 1981. He did his MBA from IRMA, Anand during the session 1982-84.
He completed his PhD (in Management) from Manipal University with TAPMI as the research center in 2008.
Career
R.C. began his career as Deputy Manager (Marketing) at Tamilnadu Co-operative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd. in 1984. He also worked as Area Sales Manager at Dalmia (Dairy) Industries Ltd. during 1991-92. 1994-99, he was the Depot in Charge at AMUL, managing its sales and distribution programs in Andhra Pradesh.
His academic career began with his association with TAPMI as an Associate Professor of Marketing (1999-2008). He worked as a Professor of Marketing with IIM Indore, which was a one year stint. In 2009, he returned to TAPMI as Professor (Marketing) and Associate Dean (Academics). In 2012, he assumed the role of the Director at TAPMI, a role that he continues to play till date.
Awards and recognition
R.C. was awarded the ‘Best Case Writing Award’ by AIMS in 2001. He won the ‘Dewang Mehta - Best Teacher of Marketing Management’ award in 2008. He also won the ‘Best Innovation in Management Education’ award at AIMS Convention, Bhubaneswar in 2011. He also represented the Indian contingent at the ‘China-India Education Co-operation Summit’, 2012.
Discovery Education honored him with the ‘Best Director of Business School in South India’ award in 2013. TAPMI won the ‘Best Private Business School in South India’ award in 2013 during his tenure as director. He has been a member of the ‘Committee for Development of Manual for Accreditation of Management Programs by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA)’, Ministry of HRD, Government of India in 2013.
R.C. was an invited delegate at Harvard Business School's ‘GloColl 2013’, Boston, USA in 2013 and was nominated to the ‘Management Accreditation Evaluation Committee’ as a Member by the Chairman of the National Board of Accreditation, Ministry of HRD, Government of India during the same year. He has been a member of the advisory board for ‘Markstrat’ since 2013.
During his tenure, TAPMI was rated as the ‘17th best Business School in India’ in a survey by the ‘Outlook’ magazine in 2013. In another B-school survey conducted by ‘Business Today’ in 2015, TAPMI was ranked the ‘18th best B-school in India’.
