Quentin koromete

Quentin Bruce Koromete (21 April 1958) is a prominent Maori Sovereignty Leader and current Secretary of State of the United Tribes of New Zealand. He is a hereditary chief descended (great-grandson) from Paramount Chiefs Hemi Kapa Tupe of no to Uri Putete Hapu (Nga Puhi)signatory to the Declaration of Independence and Wikiriwhi Matauru of Ruawaipu Hapu (Ngati Porou) bringing the North and Southern Tribes together in one man. Quentin is also a direct descendent of Torere (Ngai Tai), first daughter of Hotu Roa.
He gained notoriety after having engineered a successful challenge to the New Zealand Government's Seabed and Foreshore proposed legislation.
The project forced the government administration to leave out the whole Ngati Porou Seabed Foreshore Territory from their Seabed Foreshore legislation passed in December 2004. This was due to the proclamation and declaration aired on Primetime New Zealand TV by spokesperson Jason Koia in which it was stated to Helen Clark (then prime minister) that the Seabed and Foreshore belonged to the hapu and that the government had no authority to legislate over their lands and resources.

The paua (abalone) hatchery built on the Potaka Marae for the Tapaeururangi Hapu Iwi of Ngati Porou in February 2004 was his brainchild. A Civil Engineer over 30 years, Quentin provided the resources for the project and gifted the intellectual property rights to the Hapu in exchange for their promise to remain united through the expected adversity anticipated from the unlawful New Zealand Government. He designed the building and invented the recirculating saltwater system to breed and produce juvenile paua (abalone) on land. The system became a coveted secret as it is the only system to date created that simulates live ocean environment without ever needing to change the sea water.
On October 28, 2008 he was appointed as Secretary of State of The United Tribes Of New Zealand, independent state and true administrators of the resources on the land.
He is married to his "only true love" Nani Waiata Lima Goldsmith Koromete and has exercised his customary right to whangai (adopt) her son from a previous relationship and intends to groom his adopted son as the chief to follow in his footsteps. He has four grown children of his own from a previous relationship.
Quentin was born in Opotiki to Makaa Pahewerua Goldsmith (Koromete) and Rona Francis Kerr Goldsmith (Koromete) is the fifth of six children.
He attended Saint Stephens Boys Secondary School with classmates Shane
Jones, Jim Flavel, and Hone Harawera's younger brother Joe.
He represented Thames Valley Rugby in 1980-81 in the height of his rugby career challenging Waikato for the coveted provincial Ranfurly Shield.
