Qfusion is a 3D game engine based on the GPL'ed Quake II source code. It is available for download and modification under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The project was started and is primarily developed by Victor Luchitz. It is programmed in C and supports all Windows and Unix-based computers. Qfusion has helped to set the bar for many other Quake II engine projects. The engine supports the entire range of content for Quake III and skeletal models. More recent versions of Qfusion engine also extend the Q3 rendering scheme to include per pixel shading support, soft shadows, other newer generation features. Qfusion is particularly notable because War§ow, a popular free standalone game is based on the engine. Technology overview * Support for Quake 3 Media Files: maps, shaders, cinematics, models. * Several model formats: skm, md3, md2 * Skeletal animation: SKM skeletal models( SKM is qfusion's implementation for skeletal models ) * Ogg Vorbis playback support, Full stereo sound support * TGA and JPEG image support * Network packets compression * Curves collision detection * Client-side Game and User Interface modules, Clientside HUD's * Lightning & Effects: volumetric fog, stencil shadows, shadow maps, particle systems, moving\rotating portals and mirrors, normal mapping on models, clipped decals ** GLSL Shaders: outlines for Cel-shading, deluxemaps and bump mapping
