A Psychocinetic Art Object is an object that modifies itself according to the person facing it. It has nothing to do with interactivity because the person who is facing the object is passive. It is the object itself that analyzes the person. It modifies itself according to the result of the analysis and, of course, according to the will of the artist. For this purpose, the artwork is equipped with sensors. These more or less sophisticated sensors give informations on the personality of the person facing the object. Visual and sound captation are the basic sensors, and most of the Psychocinetic Art Objects use computer algorithms for the analysis. A simple example of a Psychocinetic Art Object is the "Breathe", a big Psychocinetic artwork. It is a circular pound on which is softly tense a pink rubber membrane. The visitors go up to the edge of the pool and the sensors surrounding the artwork analyze permanently the breathing of everyone. The parts of the membrane that are close to the visitor breathe at the same rhythm, going up and down synchronously with the visitor's lungs and producing the sound of a breath.
