Protected.co.uk is a member of the Ed Group, a group of financial services companies based near Portsmouth, England. The Ed Group specialises in life insurance, critical illness cover and debt relief management, under a variety of trading names.
History
Protected was founded in 2005 by CEO Luke Ashworth as a price comparison website referring customers to some of the UK’s largest life insurance brokers.
In 2009 Protected began to provide discounted protection insurance direct to customers through its own brokerage.
Accolades
In 2008 the company was recognised by the Sunday Times and awarded 3rd place in their ‘Tech Track 100’ awards after posting annual sales of £9.6m in 2007. In the same year, the company was nominated for Business of the Year and Highly Commended for Small Business of the Year at the Portsmouth News Business Excellence Awards (BEAs). Luke himself won Achiever of the Year at the BEAs in 2009.
