Projects for Humanity

Projects for Humanity (also known as Projects 4 Humanity or P4H) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The organization works for the betterment of the underprivileged individuals and communities through humanitarian aid, natural disaster relief, and developmental assistance. Since its inception, the organization has primarily worked in Bangladesh, though it is based in Texas, United States. Major projects of the organization include assistance for the Rohingya refugee, natural disaster relief, care of orphans, free medical treatment clinic, education for the underprivileged.
Funding
Projects for Humanity collects money from the community. Its funds have been collected through personal donations, as well as on its social media on Facebook, and donations links set up through GoFundMe.
History
Since the end of August, 2017, more than 500,000 Rohingya people have been living in Bangladesh. P4H volunteers assisted 300 people in Okanjor para, Whoikong, Teknaf, Cox Bazar region by providing temporary shelter with food, medicine, clothing, and floor mats. In the second part of the Rohingya project, P4H provided them with better and permanent accommodation. P4H made houses with bamboo and tin which helped them to live for a longer period of time with adequate sanitary and cooking opportunities. Throughout October 2017, P4H built ladies' bathrooms, waterwells, and toilets in 5 different areas around the refugee camps. In the third part of the project completed in November 2017, a free medical camp was set up to aid the elderly, children, and families where they were examined by volunteer doctors and given free medication. In part four of the Rohingya refugee project, P4H built an elementary school for 150 Rohingya refugee children from Nursery to grade 2. P4H provided the children with school supplies. The school began in session in January 2018. The students receive one meal per school day.
P4H reached out to the flood-affected people in Houston, Texas following the 2019 flood, with primary needs. P4H distributed relief among 80 Hurricane Harvey affected people. The package contained dried foods, cleaning supplies and other necessary livelihood materials. P4H volunteers distributed food and medicine to the flood-affected people in Saghata, Gaibandha, Bangladesh, following the flood of 2020. Assistance was given to approximately 1000 people.
During the winter of 2017-2018, P4H distributed 200 blankets to the poor people affected by erosion of the Jamuna river in Sirajgonj, Bangladesh.
In January 2017, Projects for Humanity opened a Minute Clinic to give free monthly medical treatment to the poor and underprivileged people in rural areas of Bangladesh. Each month P4H announces to the community about the Minute Clinic event. A specialist medicine doctor provides various medical treatments such as check-ups to families, special screenings for diabetes and blood pressure for the elderly, physical therapy and advice on arthritis and back pain, immunizations, provides medicine as needed, and referrals to specialist doctors in cases of severe illness. In some circumstances, after a full assessment of a patient who is unable to go to the hospital for their severe illness, P4H provides funding for the patient’s full medical treatment as well.<ref name=pa/>
As part of empowerment of the underprivileged, P4H distributed sewing machines to young women in Bangladesh. Poor widows in Chapai Nawabganj District were given goats with the aim to make them self-reliant.
