Proffiti

Proffiti is a form of new media which involves the projection of street art, most commonly graffiti, onto the surfaces of traditional targets for tagging and unauthorized art.
Etymology
Proffiti is a compound word combining the English words projection and graffiti.
History
The idea was first conceived and practiced by new media students Ezra Velazquez and Kate Trenerry during the Spring of 2009.
The first exhibition of proffiti was held in the New York City subway system at the Times Square station during the middle of Spring 2009. The New Media artisans projected graffiti, from selected sites in Williamsburg,_Brooklyn, onto the number three Bronx-bound train. The medium was a MacBook Pro, mobile projector, and JPEG images.
Uses
Like traditional graffiti, proffiti may assume radical, and political roles, however, at its most basic form, proffiti is simply another form of street art. It is essential to note that profitti is not permanent and not destructive, contrary to other mediums such as spray paint or stenciling. The duration of the art is entirely controlled by the artist because of the precision of the technology.
Equipment
Equipment most commonly used in proffiti is a laptop, projector, graffiti images, and an extension cable. It is important to consider sources of power for all electrical equipment. Many sites do not have electrical outlets available, and a small generator would be convenient, but not essential, for aspiring artists.
