Probir Gupta

Probir Gupta (born 1960) is an artist, politician, curator and activist based in New Delhi. Over the years, the direction of his works has changed course, and he has tried various techniques to convey his messages. Gupta was born in Calcutta. His paintings and installations are often based on pieces of found scrap metal that he has scavenged from military sites around Delhi. His imagery references the dangers and anxiety present in the early days of British colonialism in India and the political ramifications of that history.
