History
Los Angeles-born Prince Robinson grew up in the 60's listening to and inspired by artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, B.B.King, Frank Zappa and John Coltrane.
At the age of 20 he formed his own blues band and opened shows for Robben Ford, Little Feat, John Mayall and Yellowjackets amongst others and did sessions and recordings at Ike Turner's famous Bolic Sound studio.
He established himself on the LA session scene, playing with diverse artists as Thelma Houston, Eric Marienthal, Kenny Loggins band and even with jazzlegend Dizzy Gillespie.
Prince Robinson was involved in many music projects for cartoons, like for DePatie-Freleng Enterprises (famous for the Pink Panther cartoons) and Hanna Barbera cartoons (famous for Tom & Jerry, The Flintstones and Scooby-Doo).
As a member of keyboardist David Garfield's acclaimed Karizma band he played alongside musicians like John Patittucci, Greg Bissonette, Brandon Fields, Carlos Vega, David Garibaldi, Vinni Colaiuta etc etc.
In the Johnson Robinson Vibe Quartet he played alongside Jay Anderson (Michael Brecker) and Paul Kriebich (Ray Charles) and recorded and album.
Also, Prince played briefly in Airpocket together with Walt Fowler, Tom Fowler & Bruce Fowler who later became famous Hollywood Orchestrators for movies like Pirates Of The Caribbean.
In 2000 he moved to Europe and, inspired by his new base in Berlin, began work on a series of new album projects, each with its own character.
Since 2006 he is also colaborating with bassist/producer/songwriter Colin Bass of the British progressive-rock band Camel on his Kartini Music record label. 2 successful albums were released.
