“Prashantt Guptha” (born 27 May, 1982) is a “New York-born Indian film” actor who made his mark in Bollywood with films of the likes of Issaq, followed by “Identity Card” and “6-5=2”. He has previously acted in films like “Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi” and “Kaalo” as well. Formerly known as “Prashant Kumar” Gupta, he is also known as “Munna” among family and close friends. Early life and background Born into a traditional Marwari family originally from Jaipur, Prashantt Guptha was born in New York and grew up in the town of Forest Hills, Queens in New York He is a BBA (Bachelors in Business Administration) from City University of New York/Baruch College. He is the youngest son of Kedar and Savitri Gupta and has two older brothers, Gajendra Gupta and Pradeep Gupta. He is happily married to Mansi Suri Gupta and has two sons Vedant and Siddhant. Prashantt Guptha believes in omens, miracles, channeled guidance from Angels and higher powers, is very self conscious about image, looks and performance. He loves fitness and is into cardio, weights, cycling, swimming, table tennis and meditation. He has six meals a day, but looks forward to a cup of black coffee. He admits to liking intimate parties, light music, wine, good conversations, hearty laughter and singing sessions. He loves reading, singing, listening to music, meditating, taking the family out for a meal or his wife for coffee, watching movies, listening to Ghazals and Old Hindi songs from the 50’s/60’s. He loves The Godfather Series. Mughal-e-Azam. most Yash Chopra directed films. If given a chance, Prashantt would like to essay the role of Salim from Mughal-e-Azam. Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Aamir Khan, etc are his favourites. His recent reads are the biographies of Dilip Kumar, Rajesh Khanna and Naseeruddin Shah. A voracious reader of spiritual and film literature, Prahsantt Admits, he is addicted to the morning paper, Filmfare, Screen and Mens Health, loves American sitcoms like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond. Other than that, he loves Nintendo and Sega video games, the traditional Monopoly, Ludo/Snakes and Ladders, table tennis and basketball. Acting career Prashantt Guptha is known for his histrionics that has helped him carve a niche in Indian cinema. His debut film Issaq was followed by Identity Card and 6-5=2. He has previously acted in films like Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi and Kaalo as well. Prashantt Guptha has been lauded for his talent. The handsome villain of Issaq received the Best Debutante Award at the 10th Excellence National Awards. This was followed by the Best Supporting Actor Award for Raahat Kazmi’s Identity Card, received at the hands of Ayushmann Khurrana and the Honorable Consul General N. Parthasarthy at The San Francisco Global Movie Festival. Prashantt Guptha has also been chosen for ‘The Pride of Rajasthan Award’ at the First Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) at Shilpgram, Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur from Jaunary 18.
