Post-Pyramidion Construction

Post-Pyramidion Construction is the method of building a true pyramid from the top down. The term Post-Pyramidion is specific to the construction that follows the placement of the pyramidion on stepped rows of stone courses. The courses of each row are set back from one another, guaranteeing the seamless integration of backing stone. The height of each row is measured in Seked to sustain the angle of the pyramid. The stepped rows are the ground for the remainder of backing stone and the outer casing. Any number of ramp configurations could be used for Post-Pyramidion Construction. As much as one third of the structure’s building material is placed after the height of the pyramid is established.
