Plug Label

Plug Label is an independent hip hop record label based in California.
It was started in 2003 by DJ/Producer/MC Kero One. Kero one, a dj, producer, and rapper ,founded plug label in 2003. Motivated to release his own 12" vinyl, Kero One needed a record label to back him in his grass roots venture. The name PLUG stands for “promoting love under ground” and was created in hopes of one day becoming a label that promoted the many talented artists that Kero One had known (most were his own friends) and didn’t’ have the channels for exposure beyond city limits. After Kero One released his first 12” in 2003, the vision of the label began to take shape as it went beyond just a label that released underground hiphop, but a label that took interests in the genres of electronic beats and soul. In 2007, Kero One abandoned the home office and opened up an office for Plug Label in downtown San Francisco running a full fledge label along with several partners. Currently in 2008, Plug Label has released several albums and a dozen 12” singles with artists such as Aloe Blacc, Ohmega Watts, King Most, Green Tea, and many others. In addition, Plug has received achievements such as top downloads on Itunes Asia, rotations by tastemaker DJ’s such as Giles Peterson BBC radio, and sold out event showcases w/ artists such as Blu & Exile, Kero One, and A.G. (Showbiz).
