Pinaki Chattopadhyay

Dr.Pinaki Chattopadhyay is a Bengali language elocutionist, and well known personality in the field of Art of Recitation. Although, he prefers to call himself as poetry performer. Pinaki Chattopadhyay was born in 1971 in Koshigram, a village near Katwa of Burdwan, West Bengal, India, to Late Sunity Chatterjee and Smt. Ava Chatterjee.
Early life
Dr.Pinaki chattopadhyay (Pinaki Chatterjee) did his graduation and post graduation in physiology from the City College, Kolkata (University of Calcutta) and Presidency College (University of Calcutta) respectively. He was awarded research fellowship by Sports Authority of India and started his research carrier in Sports Physiology at SAI, Bangalore. He is the pioneer research worker in the field of physiological aspects of women boxing in India and conducted the physiological monitoring of the training sessions of the first national camp in which Olympic medalist Mary Kom was one of the participants. He obtained his PhD degree in Physiology from University of Kalyani.
Teaching and academic administration
Chattopadhyay has authored many research articles as principal author and majority of his publications are in international journals. He has also authored a book in Physiology for the medical students. He had participated in several international and national workshops, seminars, conferences organised by Govt. of Western Australia, USA in Action, West Bengal Association of Sports medicine etc. He is a member of the editorial board of the international journals. He is also associated as an expert reviewer for many international journals of biomedical sciences. Chattopadhyay is member or life member of many scientific societies. He has the experience of teaching physiology for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in different dental and medical colleges of India and Nepal. Presently, he is working as an Academic Administrator. He is also continuing his research work in his specialised area Exercise & Environment, in true sense his better half Paulomi Das and himself contributing significantly in this area.
Recitation and other performing arts
Pinaki Chattopadhyay started his recitation performance during his school days. After coming to Calcutta he became associated with Akashvani and started airing Bengali Talks in Yuvo-Vani . During this period he also performed in Doordarshan, Calcutta in special talk programs and Tarunder Janyo. Pinaki was approved as FM presenter in All India Radio in the year 1997.

Award & honour
He was awarded ABRITTI RATNA (2004) in a function at Bangla Academy by Padmashree Debdulal Bandopadhyay on behalf of Samantaral for his contribution in recitation and his youthfulness in performance.
Solo performance of recitation
i. at Kalakunja (2000): Organised by Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre(EZCC) & Uuzania
ii. at Bangla Academy(2012): organised by Mrittika. His stage performances of recitation were highly praised by the media and the mass, his recitation is said to be the performing interpretation of the poems.
Published book on recitation
Chhotoder Aabritti- Ak guccha kobita o chhara. In first part of the book Pinaki expressed his views and shared his experiences on different aspects of recitation in a simple and comprehensive manner for the beginners. The second part is collection of poems by the poets of different eras, with which the children may start practising recitation.
