It is part of the family of journals known as the Physical Review. The Editor is Troy Shinbrot of Rutgers University. Julie Kim-Zajonz is the Managing Editor. Brief History Phys. Rev. Applied was first announced in June 2013 and began considering papers in December 2013. Scope PRApplied will consider papers on the traditional areas of applied physics, e.g., materials science, surface and interface physics, device physics, condensed matter physics, and optics. It will also welcome papers by physicists working on problems in engineering, and by engineers investigating systems involving physical mechanisms.<ref name="about"/> Features *Subscription (funding) model later - 'Free' in 2014 subscriptions *Online Only *Exceptional articles featured in Physics *Editors’ Suggestions highlight select papers of particular interest and relevance *Open Access publication option available *Articles published online as they are available *Monthly issues
