Phillium Benedict

Dr. Phillium Benedict is a fictional character in the movie Recess: School's Out, and the main antagonist in the movie. He is a megalomaniacal ex-principal (Principal Prickly replaced him) and former teacher of Third Street Elementary School and former Secretary of Education who aspired to eliminate recess and summer vacation in order to raise U.S. test scores, but thanks to the heroic efforts of the Staff and Students of Third Street (including TJ Detweiler and his best friends and Principal Prickly in general), his sinister plans failed and he was sent to jail. He is voiced by James Woods, the same person who voiced Hades in 1997's Hercules.

Technology
*Weather-Altering Laser- Stolen by Benedict and his minions from a U.S. Military Base, Benedict and his men used this laser to modify the moon's orbit ever so slightly during a lunar perigee so they can eliminate Summer Vacation, completely. It had a few bugs to work out in the beginning, but Benedict and his henchmen got the laser to work perfectly. Right at trigger time, Vince tossed TJ's old baseball at the Photon Channeler, destroying the laser.
*Portable Sleep Ray- a handheld mechanism used to render its victims unconscious. The Ugly Bald Guy used this against the U.S. Military Base workers during the Tractor Beam theft. Benedict almost used it against Principal Prickly during the final fight.

Henchmen
*Scientists- The technical workers in Benedict's army. They are responsible for designing and building the weapons Benedict and his men use. Different VAs have voiced Benedict's scientists Tony Jay (Dr. Rosenthal), Tress MacNeille (Dr, Steinheimer), Ron Glass (Dr. Lazenby) and Phil Proctor. Dr. Rosenthal is Benedict's lead scientist, but after being hauled off to detention when the laser has to work out the bugs, Lazenby takes his place, because he is second in command.
*Secret Service Look-Alike Foot Soldiers- men wearing the same gear the Secret Service wear-- the sweaters, the dark sunglasses, and the earpieces. Having this rank, they act as fodder and workmen for the Anti-Recess Army. The only named Foot Soldiers were Anderson, Smithson, Underhill, Hanklin, Morrissey and Goodman. Different VAs have voiced Dr. Benedict's Secret Service Look-Alike Foot Soldiers: Dan Castellaneta and Diedrich Bader.
*Ninja Army- Not much is known about these guys, other than they help Benedict in his plans and help the Secret Service Look-Alike Foot Soldiers with their duties.
*Fenwick (voiced by Peter MacNicol)- Not much known about him, but he is Benedict's right-hand man, and despite being nervous when Benedict gets temperamental, he is loyal to him. In the end, as Benedict and his henchmen are being hauled to prison, he offers to turn the state's evidence to the police to avoid paying his debt to society, because he was following orders.
*Ugly Bald Guy (voiced by Clancy Brown)- Presumably a lieutenant in Benedict's army. He seems to hold a grudge against TJ (presumably because of his "ugly bald guy" comment, and when T.J. and Principal Prickly dumped a pot of Corn Chowder on him), especially after T.J. saw him when was passing the school. Aside from being a lieutenant in Benedict's army, he was sent by Benedict to disguise himself as Principal Prickly while Benedict was holding the real Principal Prickly prisoner. He goes after TJ during the final fight as revenge for pouring the Corn Chowder on him, but Ms. Finster saves TJ and knocks him out with one punch. It's unknown what happens to him after this. Either he was smothered in the crash after the laser got destroyed and was killed or was badly injured and put in prison with his boss.
