Biography
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Phillip is first seen onboard The Queen Anne's Revenge tied up at the top of the mast, as the first mate wants him to save soul, due to him being a missionary. When Jack Sparrow begins the mutiny, he climbs to the top of the mast to free Phillip, but Phillip tells him that he is not on his side, but nor is he against them, which confuses Salaman, but Jack tells him that it is required due to him being religious. After the mutiny fails and Blackbeard takes back controll of his ship Phillip confronts Blackberd telling him that he is a coward. Blackbeard goes to kill Phillip but Angelica stops him saying that Phillip can help save Blackbeard. So Blackbeard asks Phillip if evry soul can be saved, to which Phillip says yes, but believes saving his soul is a long shot.
When The Revenge arrives at White Cap Bay Phillip is one of the ones selected as bait to lure the mermaids to shore. When they attack, destroying the life boat Phillip manages to make it back to shore. After Jack destroys the light tower, Phillip dives for cover from the debris, noticing a mermaid trapped under a rock, he moves the rock and stabs it's tail. Looking into her eyes, he notices how beautiful she is. But Blackbeard and his crew then capture her, with Blackbeard congradulating him and calling him a sailor. However Phillip tries to make them stop. He notices that she cannot breathe in the container that she is in, and so opens the lid for her to get air, they again look into each other's eyes. When the zombie carrying the container trips causing the container to break open, and the water to go into the ground, her tail transforms into a pair of legs. Phillip takes his shirt off and wraps it around her, to cover her. He helps her walk from there. He tells her that such beauty can only be created by God. When Blackbeard says to bring the creature, Phillip roars that that is not her name, and tells them that her name is Syrena. When Blackbeard ties Syrena up to get a tear from a mermaid for the fountain and she refuses, he gets one of his crew to bring a knifee to Phillip, when she refuses to cry he seemingly kills Phillip. Later when Phillip wakes up and returns to free her, she cries tears of joy, Blackbeard and his crew jump out to get the tear, causing her to become enraged, but Phillip says he had nothing to do with it. They then take Phillip with them, with him fighting to stay with Syrena.
At the Fountain of Youth Phillip gets involved in the battle, but is wounded. He returns to Syrena begging for forgiveness and frees her, however she swimms away to the fountain to give Jack her tears. When she returns Phillip is dying and asks if he wants to be saved, to which he replies yes. They kiss and is then dragged under water by Syrena because a mermaids kiss can make you breathe under water.
