Pharmacy Spirits

Pharmacy Spirits is a post-punk band based in Lincoln, Nebraska. They have a wide variety of influences, including The Cure.

Pharmacy Spirits stared as The Bad Sects in 2001 with the original lineup of Courtney Nore (drums), James Pelter (bass), and Jim Reilly (guitar). Initially, James and Jim split songwriting and singing credits, with both occasionally singing on the same song. In 2005 they released their long awaited debut The Special Magic of The Bad Sects on Lone Prairie Records. This was followed by Of Growth, Kindness and Threats, which was self-released in 2007.

2007 also saw the departure of longtime collaborator James Pelter, which prompted the name change to Pharmacy Spirits. Pat Clinch was brought aboard to play bass and also left after a few months. Pharmacy Spirits has been using fill-in bassists live since. James's departure also caused a shift in the sound of the group as Jim Reilly moved into a frontman role.

Lastly, the Every Song Ended in 1997 EP was self-released in November 2007. The recording lineup is simply Courtney and Jim, with Jim playing the bass parts and Courtney singing backup vocals.

The Bad Sects were one of five bands to appear on Lone Prairie Records' second annual "A Situation" compilation, which showcases hand-picked artists from Lincoln. They picked Once a Pawn for the third A Situation.

"Bad Sects" is also the name of a song by fellow Nebraska-based group Cursive. It is unknown whether this is a nod to Lincoln's Bad Sects.

Courtney,
I don't usually approach things this way, but I'm trying to keep this a little on the down-low because this for this moment the purpose of this endeavor is entirely FOR FUN. I'm starting an Alt Latino band with all women musicians (our musical experience doesn't necessarily match our current genre). We're currently looking for a drummer, and your name has come up a couple of times.
If you're interested at all, and would like to know more about the fun we're talking about, please call me at 402-489-0986. This isn't a hoax, a joke, nor is it an attempt to steal you away from your current band. The other woman in the group has 3 kids ages 1 to 8 and I have two kids ages 7 and 13, we're just in it for fun (personally, this may be my mid-life crisis happening). So, that's it, hope to hear form you.
