Pennina Barnett is a curator in the visual arts and contemporary textiles sectors. She is one of the founding editors of Textile: The Journal of Cloth and Culture. Barnett wrote Textile: The Journal of Cloth and Culture which received the ALPSP/Charlesworth Award for Best New Journal 2005. She is the founding co-editor of the book's peer review. In 2000 she received a British Council Grant and the Northwest Arts Individual Development Grant. Barnett was one of three UK artists chosen to mentor emerging Japanese artists within the ‘Through the Surface, Collaborating Textile Artists from Britain and Japan’ endeavor in 2003. The BBC Production series, Contemporary Visions selected Barnett for their contemporary artists profiling. Textiles by the London Crafts Council. She is the co-curator of The Subversive Stitch Revisited: The Politics of Cloth.
