Patriot Party of Canada

The Patriot Party of Canada is an internet-based Canadian political party founded in 2001 by Daniel R. Perley, an advanced technology executive and consultant from Ottawa.

The website lists a 13-member party executive, which includes Ken Sweigard, leader of the Social Credit party for a time in the 1980s, and Marianne Wilkinson, a former Mayor of the City of Kanata, near Ottawa.

Following the initial posting of information on the website, there does not appear to have been any organizational activity.

Party program

# Work with the private sector to spurn the new economy with home workplace.
# Aid the allowance of borrowing and lending electronically between Canadians. (no bank middlemen needed)
# Support the small business sector.
# Encourage home based agriculture for better international independence.
# Protect the cultures and rights of all Canadians (not just the most vocal)
# Appoint ministers with experience in the subject to which they are appointed.

# Eliminate the GST over a period of time.
# Replace the Income Tax with the simpler and more efficient Personal Asset Tax (PAT)
# Restore the Defence, including the armed forces, navy and air force.
# Promote better financial aid than the welfare system.
# Inspire community service for improving the lives of all Canadians.

Current status

The Patriot Party of Canada has had limited growth because of lack of funding. Its organizers are waiting for a majority government to be formed so that they will have a four-year period in which to put in place a national organization and field a credible number of candidates in the subsequent election.
