Patrick Effendy

Patrick Effendy is an Indonesian music producer and director. He came into wider recognition after directing the film CJR The Movie.
Career
Patrick has always held an interest in music since he was young, and for a time played the bass in high school. During the heyday of MTV, he would watch music videos and from there developed a curiosity about the process of a music video clip production. He then began collecting video clips, recorded onto Betamax atau mini DV cassettes. Later on, Patrick was introduced to Eugene Panji, an up-and-coming music video director at the time. At this opportunity, Patrick became Eugene’s assistant and began work in producing music video clips.
As a film director
Patrick began his career as a film director in 2004, starting with a modest capital. He produced a video clip on his personal budget for his favorite Indonesian band, Sheila on 7, for their single “Pemuja Rahasia”. During its production, the band and Sony Music Indonesia surprised Patrick by appearing in the video as a cameo. In 2005, Patrick was part of the documentation team for Indonesian singer Ari Lasso as he toured Indonesia, and eventually received opportunities to create music video clips professionally. In the same year, he started a small production house with another Indonesian singer Glenn Fredly called Embrio Ent. (2005-2007) and created corporate videos and television commercials (TVC).
From 2007 to 2013, Patrick embarked on a career as a freelance director before finally starting a production house and animation studio, a visual expert in production and animation offering services in audiovisual productions and intellectual property development. Plentis Kentus won Anugrah KPI in a nomination for best animation program on Indonesian television channel TransTV.
In 2014, Patrick had the chance to direct his first major film titled “CJR The Movie” under Falcon Pictures. Two years later, in 2016, he directed “Ada Cinta di SMA” (Love in High School) under Starvision.
As a music producer
2008 - Directed the video of SuperKidz, a junior pop-punk band. He introduced them in a video clip with Indra Bekti and Dewiq as supporting talents.
2010 - SuperKidz changed their name to Super-K and received a contract with Trinity Optima. Patrick produced their first single, “Playgirl”, together with Irwan Simanjuntak.
2010 - AiKO, initially produced by David Tities who also produced Glenn Fredly and Ello. Before he passed away in August of the same year, David handed over AiKO to Patrick. Working together with Seven Music, AiKO released an album with their first single, “I Love You”.
2011 - A closed audition resulted in a junior music group called Coboy Junior . Patrick worked with Seven Music to make Coboy Junior a successful Indonesian junior band with an album, a book, television program and a tour of 30 cities in Indonesia.
2014 - Plentis Kentus together with Sony Music produced an animation concept with young artists wit under the visual expert animation.
2015 - Patrick created a music production house called SuperSound Music and produced a number of singles for Indonesian performing artists such as Titi Rajo Bintang, Ribas, CJR, Blink, and others. Under SuperSound Music, Patrick also produced music and jingles for Television advertisement.
Awards
Nominated in the 2016 Festival Film Indonesia (Indonesian Film Festival) for the category of Best Original Screenplay for “Ada Cinta di SMA” (Love in High School) along with Haqi Ahmad.
