Partners in Performance

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Partners in Performance was founded with the monetary award that classical violinist Midori Goto received as part of the coveted Avery Fisher Prize in 2001. Partners in Performance aims to stimulate local interest in recitals and chamber music, specifically in smaller outlying communities without the financial resources of major urban centers, and to support classical music presenters in these communities by offering affordable concerts by major artists such as Midori and pianist Jonathan Biss, who joined the PiP roster of artists in 2008 and will perform under the auspices of PiP in April 2010 and January 2011.
Beginning with the presenters awarded recitals in the 2008/2009 season, Partners in Performance launched a new Young Artists Program as a way to continue a supportive relationship with past PiP presenters. In addition to the originally-given performance by a high-profile musician, PiP will co-sponsor a second concert in the following season by a rising young artist. Performers in the Young Artist Program include: Korbinian Altenberger (violin), Gabriel Cabezas (cello), and the Carducci String Quartet.
Since its incorporation in 2003, Partners in Performance has presented concerts in the following states: Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin. Future PiP programs will be conducted in Arkansas, Kentucky, Maine, and Minnesota.
