Paragon Cause

Paragon Cause is a Canadian rock band from Ottawa/Gatinuea, Canada. It was formed in the summer of 2018 when vocalist/singer Marnie VanKheul and guitarist/producer Kirwan Opthof met and started recording some early demos. These demos evolved into their first EP, Escape. The duo enlisted the help of Joel Plasket/Thrush Hermit Drummer Benn Ross to perform on a number of songs. The band released their debut EP, Esape in May 2018. In the summer of 2018, the band signed with The British Independent Label 'Analogue Trash' and released the European/Delux Edition of their album Escape on Jan 4, 2019.
The band has also worked with Sune Rose Wagner of The Raveonettes on their upcoming album, set for release in 2019.
History
Band Formation
In 2018, The duo met online using Bandmix. Kirwan, a guitarist from Halifax, Nova Scotia who has played and performed with Rose Cousins, Servo and Caledonia and Marnie Immediately began recording their debut album.
Early Single
The duo's first recording was a cover of the Peter Green song Fool No More. This did not appear on any albums but was released as a single.
The song Sunny, was chosen in the Top 100 National songs on CBC Searchlight in 2018. Sunny would later be included on the album Escape.
2018: "EscaPe”
Paragon Cause entered the studio in 2018 and recorded their first 6 singles, which were released as an EP, Escape.
In May 2018, Escape, was chosen as a top Trip-Hop album by the european magazine, Trip Hop Nation.
The album reached 9 on Canadian College Radio.
2019: "Escape Deluxe/European Edition"
On Jan 4, 2019, the duo released a Deluxe/European Edition of their album Escape on the British Label, Analogue Trash. This album contained three new songs, Drop Me, Curiosity and an extended Live version of Curiosity.
Work with Sune Rose Wagner
In late 2018, it was revealed the band was working on new material with Sune Rose Wagner of The Raveonettes in Ottawa, Canada.
Soundtrack Work
Paragon Cause has recorded music for The Night Time Podcast which has been featured on international radio stations associated with Corus Radio.
