Paolo Gislimberti was a Formula One race marshall killed on September 10th 2000 at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. The accident happened at turn 3 a major collision between the two Jordan's of Jarno Trulli and Heinz Harald Frentzen, Rubens Barrichello's Ferrari and David Coulthard's Mclaren. The drivers were getting out of the wrecks and the marshals were preparing to assist the drivers and clear the cars when Pedro De la Rosa running near the back of the grid ran up the back of Herbert's slowing Jaguar. This launched De la Rosa's Arrows into a series of barrel rolls and in the process over the top of Coulthard's Mclaren, with Coulthard still inside. The drivers all escaped unscathed. Despite the debris the race was not red flagged but the safety car was deployed. News soon reached the pitlane that a fire marshall had been gravely injured by flying debris from the accident. The marshal was Paolo Gislimberti. He was rushed to hospital but died soon after.
