Osagie Elegbe

Osagie Elegbe (born February 1, 1975) is a Nigerian actor, filmmaker, and producer known for his work in Nollywood, particularly in culturally rooted dramas and socially conscious films. He is the writer and director of the film Inside Africa and is also known for his acting roles in productions such as Esohe, The Gentleman, and the series Blood of Enogie.
Early life and education
Elegbe was born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics before transitioning into the Nigerian film industry.
Career
Filmmaking
Elegbe wrote, directed, and produced the feature film Inside Africa, a socially driven drama focused on youth empowerment, recession recovery, and generational redemption through agriculture. The film starred Chiwetalu Agu, Ruth Kadiri, and other notable Nollywood actors.
Acting
As an actor, Elegbe has featured in several Nollywood films and television dramas. He portrayed a police officer in the epic drama Esohe (2017), which explored African spiritual mythology and reincarnation. He also played lead roles in The Gentleman (2019) and Osato (2023). One of his most recognized television roles is as a duke (Enogie) in the royal-era drama series Blood of Enogie.
Guild leadership and public life
Elegbe previously served as Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Edo State Chapter. His tenure focused on improving actor welfare and encouraging professional development within the local film community.
In 2022, Elegbe made headlines for advising Nollywood celebrities to avoid excessive public displays of affection on social media, referencing actors Frederick Leonard and Peggy Ovire.
Personal life
Elegbe celebrated his 50th birthday in February 2025. The milestone was recognized by his colleagues and fans as a celebration of his longstanding contributions to Nollywood.
