Orbe is a Brazilian alternative rock band, founded in 1996 by Márcio Marques in Porto Velho, Rondônia. The band recorded their first album, Aborto, in 2000. The themes of the songs were clearly displayed by their titles: "Na infância", "Drogas na escola", "Mendicidade", "Adolescência", "Na periferia", "Sempre esteve só", "Meu piedoso Deus", "Trabalhadores Noturnos", "Não experimente", "Delírio em uma prisão", "Patrícios" and "Opressor".
History
Márcio Marques received his first guitar from his brother for his 15th birthday in April 1994. Later that year, he formed his first band, Os Jovens Guardas. He composed his first song, "Adolescência". The song covered adolescent prostitution, weapons and suicide. In 1996 Márcio met some aspiring musicians from his neighborhood and formed the band Huailler. They played original material only. Following several personnel changes, they renamed themselves Orbe. While performing in 1998, they met Inaldo Alencar who later produced their first album. In July 2001, Marques took a break from the band because of illness. In September 2007, they played a concert in Porto Velho, Brazil. Marques then took another hiatus until October 2011. In 2011, the band also started recording their second album. After many years of silence, Orbe released a song, "Quatro Dedos" in 2020.
